Location – Murmansk city, Lenin Ave, 49

The Murmansk Regional Drama Theatre was created in 1939 on the basis of the branch of the Leningrad Bolshoi Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky. The theatre was headed by: S.A. Morshchikhin - artistic director and A.V. Shubin - chief director. The official opening of the Murmansk Drama took place on February 1, 1939 with the play "Consul General". During the Great Patriotic War, a concert brigade was formed from the theatre troupe, performing in military units, hospitals, and on the front lines.

For many years the theatre did not have its own premises, performances were held on the site of the S. M. Kirov Palace of Culture. In 1963 the theatre moved to a new building on Lenin Avenue.

The Murmansk Drama playbill is constantly updated. 5-6 new premieres are released per season. Considering the need for genre diversity, the repertoire includes entertainment plays along with classical drama.

Many of the theatre’s creative workers have been awarded by the executive authorities of the Murmansk region.
